Mosquito type sound like a battery, like a charging, moving from a low frequency to a high frequency, very sort of pure tones. Definitely a synthesizer vibe, like sort of a 1970s Moog synthesizer. More of the lower to higher frequencies and multiple synth lines coming together. And breaking into a dissonant noise thing and coming back into a melodic thing. Test. Feel like standardized testing....

I see something over my head, something hovering. That’s blocking the light. Kind of flapping, so the light comes on and off. It’s bird’s wings, very big bird, very close to me. Big dark spot, moving. Hmm. What’s that? What’s that? Hmm. What is that? Slow motion bird flapping its wings. Right there? It’s torture. Closing the book. It’s all very dreamy, like slowed down animation.

I see the infinity symbol morphing into a Gordian knot. Scribbles on a piece of paper or an electron cloud. Jesus Christ on the cross. An hourglass. Some sort of insect that’s bifurcated with many legs and small black eyes. Flaming scythe sort of moving in circles, creating the effect of a tornado viewed from above. Some sort of cube with a star of David jutting out from its sides. A galaxy viewed...

Visually I’m seeing an inverted pentagram, oddly. The shape of a small metal bracket. The word “grandiose” just popped into my head. Chinese checkers. The Swiss alps. I see the shape of an “S” spline curve. And in the noise I can make out distant Gregorian singing, massed singing. I can sort of see shapes like re-entry, coming back from space, sort of contrails. A thin melody like upper...

The noise is undulating. It’s like a wavering maybe. It’s hard to speak because the sound of my voice is interrupting. There’s like a white triangle. Waves. There are waves. They kind of pulse. One, two, three, four, five. Waves of darkness that pulse in and out. They’re really regular. They move into the circle, there’s like a circle at the center. A circle of white and the blackness...

Now, I think it’s a large room, like an aeroplane hangar. And in one corner there’s a man beating a drum, quite slowly, boom boom. I’m on the other side. Or the person is on the other side of the hangar and the idea is that someone sits on a trolley at the other end of the hangar and they are slowly wheeled toward the drummer at the other end of the hangar. Now the person is being pushed slowly...

The river darts. Little waterfalls. Roar of aurora borealis. These are the dangers of free association. I’ve gotta bring the attention back, keep my focus. I feel as if there’s a kind of roar of blood in your ears when you run to catch a bus or something, and that’s this roar except it’s a kind of peaceful sound. It’s quite easy to screen out, of course it’s very complex but you can just screen...

And now I’m seeing a beach, I’m getting visual stimuli. That seems to be working, but I am focusing in, but he signal must be quite brief if it’s going to be tenuously transmitted to me. I’m going to go back to my few notes on the keyboard, I can kind of see where the fingers are and what they are doing, kind of three or four notes, but I can’t actually do anything more with that. It’s a kind...

Love in darkness. Machine noise. Some speaking. Smoke. Whispering. A derive around the city. Fresh fruit in your hand. A city that works, functions. Sort of skipping in the pavement. Find the metros. Adverts made up. Fresh sky. Turn into a bakery. Buy a baguette. Fresh bread. Walk out again. Keep on walking until you reach … reach the end of the road. Suddenly see a storm. At the center of it...

DSM-III, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (3rd ed.), published by the American Psychiatric Association, provides what it calls “Diagnostic Criteria for Schizotypal Personality Disorder”. Top of the list of eight criteria comes ‘magical thinking, e.g., superstitiousness, clairvoyance, telepathy, “6th sense”, “others can feel my...

To submit ‘telepathy’ in an effective manner to a work of conceptual elaboration is unavoidably to acknowledge the primary and prerequisite importance of historical considerations. [. ..] ‘Telepathy’ did not just appear from nowhere. It is closely bound up with the more general emergence of spiritualism and psychical research in the second half of the nineteenth century....

We venture to introduce the words “telesthesia” and “telepathy” to cover all cases of impression received at a distance without the normal operations of the recognized sense organs. These general terms may, we think, be found of permanent service; but as regards what is for the present included under them, we must limit and arrange our material rather with an eye to...

“In my youth I had the experience of meeting a scholarly Unitarian clergyman, the Rev. Minot J. Savage of New York, who assured me quite seriously that he had seen and talked with ghosts. He didn’t convince me, but he sowed the seed of curiosity in my mind, and I began reading books on psychic research. From first to last, I have read hundreds of volumes; always interested, and always in a...

Now I’m seeing a silver microphone. Actually I’m seeing- well, imagining, it’s like the dragon that Haku becomes in “Sprited Away”, a Japanese cartoon dragon with an extended tongue rolling out like a butterfly’s proboscis. I think I’m hearing laa dah [hums musical phrase]. There’s patches of color, like the back of my eye. It’s a bit like petrol when you spill it on the ground and there’s...

Nothing coming through now. Nothing coming. Now suddenly, a lemon, a bright yellow lemon. Something really bright, like bright sunshine. Bright yellow lemon. The lemon’s really big. Enormous great lemon. But I’m not getting any sound. It’s like an idea for a piece of music maybe? There’s a few objects coming through that are going to be turned into some of music. What else have we got? A...

The railway. I don’t. A carriage. Lots of people. Lots of V shaped humming. Hmmmmm. (hums). Traveling quickly. Sunny and it’s getting rainier. A big circle. The V is gone. A bright sunlike circle. There’s a train in a city, going through a suburb, I think. Number 4. The sound fades now. Sounds are getting louder. (Hums more). Tubular Bells. High pitches coming through more. More strongly like...

Still hearing the white noise. Kind of feeling things like my heart beating, which I guess you gradually get used to. I think the motorway I’m seeing is just a white noise side effect. I’m seeing a green cube, a lime green cube. About what you could fit in both hands. A pitch, which is ahhhh. [sings] or is it mmmm [sings]. Somewhere, it’s either up the octave or down. Railings, like...

Ahhhh bah. Bahh bahhh. [sings] Whooooosh Shwhooooooooooooosh. Then maybe some kind of Latin beat, not really a beat, but with shakers. Like a chikka chikka chikka chikka kind of thing. [makes sound] Maybe a tone, let’s see, beeeeeeeeeeee maybe. And then like a really even rhythm, like someone’s carrying a bucket of water and it’s splashing around with every step, chikkk-uh, chikk-uh, maybe,...

Waves just go up. In broken lines. Just waves. Steady. They leave a white triangle at the top. A simple triangle. Wave goes up. And another one. And now there are just broken lines.

There’s a shape, like a kind of leaf shape, horizontal. I don’t really if it is colored or not. And like a circle over it, like a leaf shape, and then a kind of circle sort of- so the leaf shape is halfway through the circle. It’s kind of a loud noise, like an MMMmmmmmMMM [tone rises] getting louder. Now I can’t really hear it anymore. There it is again. [makes sound] little bit louder maybe....

I hear some old music. I think there’s a violin. I hear sawing. I hear little short, like, kind of like glockenspiel but not, sort of like ABBA. I don’t know. It’s gone. [long gap] I think I can hear drums. I hear a lot of voices, sort of like chanting. It kind of sounds like Native American chanting.

Something pulsating. There’s a garden. You’re in a garden by a vine-covered wall. There are roses around your ankles. You’re breathing heavily. It’s a bright sky. The line is straight. The road is straight. But I can’t seem to find a route. I think you’ve left the garden now. You’re in some kind of room with computers in it. Could be space. The machines are a sort of a fusion between 19th...

Okay, a still, strange room noise. I’m quite enjoying it. Huh. Shore, water, herrings, herring song. I’m definitely getting a keyboard. A piano keyboard. I’d like to describe it but I don’t exactly know how. Simple tune. I can’t hum it, though, what I am hearing now, as theres a strange interference, I can’t focus on anything. Icy. A kind of icy landscape that is under or over the roar....

I see an equilateral triangle. Flashing. Blinking. Really big ones that go off my range of vision and really small ones. There are things but I can’t see them yet. I can’t see what they are.
